Let's discuss Jackson Pollock.

I just want to let everyone know that I will not be able to attend class tonight due to inclement weather in Roanoke. However, Mr. Capozzi has kindly offered to take over my class tonight, so PLEASE ATTEND. He will be taking attendance and will be making sure you stay for what both he, and I, have planned for you. Don't ditch!

So, on to the activities:

As some of you already know, Jackson Pollock was an abstract expressionist. His artwork was, is, and always will be seen by some as junk without direction. But what if that piece of junk is worth $50Million? Would you then take it seriously?

Here's an interesting video that shows that artwork can be hidden in plain view. It's possible that sometimes it falls through the cracks and is lost, for what could be forever. I bet you'll look a little closer at every piece of art you see in a thrift store from now on!

Other interesting videos you may want to watch:
Marcel Duchamp - Anemic Cinema (from 1926)

CLASS WORK:
• Turn in your papers! There should be THREE total pages (one artist, one movement and one works cited)
• Have a look at this excerpt from 60 Minutes entitled Thrift Store Masterpiece.
• Have a small group discussion on how you feel about this video.
• Do whatever Mr. Capozzi has planned for you.

NO HOMEWORK!
