Let's draw using Illustrator

Hopefully you had fun with your type illustration projects. Several of you had questions about how to do other things in Illustrator, so let's explore some of the other tools and techniques available.

We're going to get acquainted with the pen tool, the line tool and the shape tools. These tools will help you create custom shapes and illustrations. They are infinitely manipulatable and can be used to create great images!

We will also talk about fill color vs. stroke color and when/where to use both. This will solve the problem of those disappearing shapes that some of you had trouble with.

In the end, I'd like you to be able to create a drawing in Illustrator. I will give you a graphic to use, and I'd like you to be able to re-create it using the techniques we'll learn in class.

HOMEWORK:
• Sketch some sort of artwork in your sketchbook.
• Using your sketch, re-create that image using only Adobe Illustrator.
• Save your file as an ILLUSTRATOR file this time: lastname_drawing.ai (<--not PDF!)
• Practice the techniques we learned in class as there will be a QUIZ on them on Wednesday!
