Students within the Business of Art & Design program classes (and if you're reading this, you probably are one) are invited to apply to join instructors and peers studying design, business, and art in New York City, Wednesday March 2nd through Sunday March 6th, 2011. Space is reserved for a small group of both high school and college level students.
While in the city, students will move at a dizzying pace visiting The Armory Art Show, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Kidrobot NYC, Apple, IKEA, the IAC Building, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Big Spaceship Digital Creative Agency, and more.* Selected students will have an ACTIVE role in documenting the trip and in their learning while in the city.
Nearly ALL travel costs are covered for accepted applicants (rooms, travel to and from NYC, and admission/passes). Students will only need money for food and incidentals (estimated at $300).
To apply, please prepare the following and deliver to (electronically or in person) Tina Morgan in the BA&D office on the SVHEC first floor.
* Short essay (<500 words) on why you want to go to NYC and your design-oriented career goals
* Portfolio of work demonstrating your talent and drive
* College or high school transcript indicating your overall GPA
* Letter of recommendation from an instructor outside of the Business of Art & Design program, or another personal reference
All applications are due by Friday, January 28th. Selected students will be informed by February 2nd.
